Chapter Award: Best COMTO Community Engagement The Best COMTO Community Engagement award is presented to an active COMTO chapter that has successfully demonstrated excellence in the planning and implementation of community activities or events that enhance COMTO's image. The recipient of this award has implemented outreach and engagement opportunities for its membership through community service, COMTO Week, Garrett A. Morgan Shadow Day, or other youth-related educational activities. Open to active COMTO Chapters in good standing.
Chapter Award: Harold B. Williams Best Membership Recruitment/Retention Activities The Harold B. Williams Best Membership Recruitment/Retention Activities award is presented to an active COMTO chapter that has successfully demonstrated excellence in recruiting and retraining members. This award recognizes both creativity in strategic program development and a commitment to enhance a broad and diverse membership. The recipient of this award has successfully demonstrated excellent in innovative recruitment activities to recruit new members outside the traditional public transportation industry, into modes that include airports, highways, maritime, ports, railroad, and student transportation, which has resulted in increased membership. Open to active COMTO Chapters in good standing.
Chapter Award: Emerging Chapter of the Year Award The Emerging Chapter of the Year award is presented to a COMTO chapter that has demonstrated a superior commitment to COMTO, has helped enhance COMTO's image within the transportation industry, has shown significant achievement in increasing their local membership, and has implemented successful transportation-related programs or projects within their community. The recipient of this award will have demonstrated overall effectiveness as a new chapter and will have been a COMTO chapter formed between 2018 and 2022 to be eligible for this award. Open to active COMTO Chapters formed between 2022 and 2024. Chapter Award: Chapter of the Year The Chapter of the Year award is the highest honor bestowed upon a chapter for its outstanding service, activities, and enhancement of COMTO's image. A chapter must be in good standing and demonstrate its alignment with COMTO's mission through programs and that foster membership growth and retention, professional development, and community outreach. The recipient of this award has demonstrated an overall excellence and effectiveness in COMTO activities, both nationally and locally. Chapters formed prior to 2021 are eligible for this award. Open to active COMTO Chapters formed prior to 2021.
Award: Corporation of the Year This award recognizes a corporation that through its activities and leadership has espoused the ideals and mission of COMTO and consistently provided exemplary support to COMTO’s goals and objectives. The corporation contributes and supports the mission of the organization both nationally and through involvement of its staff in local chapter’s activities. The recipient of this award has demonstrated its efforts in embodying the COMTO mission within its ranks and to the highest levels of its executive leadership. Click here to Nominate
Award: Public Agency of the Year This award recognizes a public agency that, through its policy, guidelines, and actions has consistently provided exemplary support to COMTO “above and beyond” by contributing to and espousing the mission and goals of the organization both nationally and through its local chapter. The recipient of this award has demonstrated its efforts in promoting economic development and support of small and emerging businesses, setting benchmarks for leadership – especially during exciting and challenging times; and promoting transportation initiatives. The Emerging Leader Award is given to an individual who has been involved in the transportation industry for fewer than 5 years. This award is presented to an individual who, throughout their affiliation with COMTO, has demonstrated extraordinary competence in a chosen transportation-related field by developing and improving their leadership skills and possesses a strong commitment to the transportation field and community. The individual deserving of this award is one who is inspired to implement self-improvement initiatives and who positively impacts and influences others. The recipient clearly demonstrates a commitment to COMTO's vision, and the transportation industry and community, through extraordinary leadership. Click here to Nominate.
Award: Gerald Anderson Member of the Year Award The Gerald Anderson Member of the Year award was established to recognize a COMTO member who has demonstrated commitment to the philosophy that the success of one is contingent upon the success of all. This award is COMTO's way of recognizing good service and the value of teamwork within the transportation industry and is given to ensure growth and development within the industry and community. Formerly the Gerald Anderson Service Award, this award was presented to COMTO's founding members for their perseverance and belief that leadership should reflect the communities served. Open to COMTO members in good standing.
Award: Small Business Firm of the Year The Small Business Firm of the Year award was introduced in 2003 to recognize organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the field of transportation and extraordinary competence in a chosen transportation-related field. The recipient of this award is nominated by a local COMTO chapter, and is actively engaged in, and strongly supports, COMTO's mission. This award is open to members and non-members.
Award: Industry Innovation The Industry Innovation Award recognizes an individual, organization, city or region for quantifiable and measurable innovations within the transportation industry. The recipient of this award understands the challenge of providing safe and reliable service amidst the increasing needs and rapidly growing demands on their city / region’s transportation system. The recipient has made a significant contribution towards improving mobility and public safety through the use of technology and innovative approaches. This award is open to members and non-members.
Award: The Reverend Jerry Moore President's Leadership The Reverend Jerry Moore President's Leadership Award was established in 2011 to recognize a COMTO Chapter President who has demonstrated exemplary leadership within COMTO, whose involvement has made a significant impact in their local chapter and has demonstrated solid leadership on the national level. The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding skills in developing and managing chapter programs and initiatives and has enhanced COMTO's image. They have demonstrated support for COMTO's mission on a local and national level and has increased their chapter's participation at COMTO's National Meeting and Training Conference. Open to COMTO Chapter Presidents who have served at least one term.
Award: Thomas G. Neusom Founders' Leadership The Thomas G Neusom Founders' Leadership Award is the highest honor bestowed by COMTO. It honors public and private transportation executives and policymakers responsible for the direction and operation of their agency or organization and who, through their affiliation with COMTO, have made outstanding contributions towards the growth and development of transportation industry professionals and have given continued and outstanding service and leadership to the organization. This award is reserved for a COMTO member who demonstrates, in his or her everyday life, the same spirit of achievement as COMTO's founders. Open to COMTO members in good standing.
