2024 COMTO Headquarters Board of Directors Nominations Overview

 

The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is seeking nominations for professionals across modes and disciplines to consider service as a member of the Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term. Nominations will be accepted through April 23, 2024 for the positions of Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer and 3 At-Large Members. Self-nominations are encouraged. Responsibilities and qualifications for service are outlined below.

The Board of Directors works to establish and ensure adherence to overall organizational policy toward the successful fulfillment of COMTO’s mission.

All board members must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a COMTO member in good standing for at least 1 year prior to election
  • Current employer must be an organizational member of COMTO in good standing for at least 1 year prior to election.
  • Possess knowledge and experience to support board service in the field of transportation.
  • Demonstrated leadership as evidenced by current position, at a senior executive level within employers’ organizational structure, and participation in transportation-related activities at the local, state and national levels.
  • Ability to effectively support COMTO Headquarters fundraising activities.
  • Knowledge and involvement in COMTO programs, and initiatives.

 Additional qualifications for nomination as Chair, 1st Vice Chair or 2nd Vice Chair:

  • Have served with distinction as a board member of COMTO.
  • Must be a COMTO member in good standing for at least 3 years prior to election.

 Additional qualifications for nomination as Secretary-Treasurer:

  • Must hold, or have held, a senior financial management position within the organization or company by which they are employed or possess a similarly high level of fiscal management experience.

The Nominating Committee will review and interview all qualifying nominations and select not more than two candidates for each of the vacant positions to be placed on the ballot. Nominations for each position will be evaluated by such factors as:

  • Experience, knowledge and proven expertise in functional areas.
  • Experience and knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Commitment to COMTO as evidenced by previous participation on local and national committees, programs, etc.
  • Ability to attend COMTO board meetings and participate in relevant committees.
  • Ability to defray travel. (Board members are responsible for their travel expenses)

 

On-line voting will be open to all current COMTO members in late May, 2024

Results of the election will be announced in Mid-June, 2024

The Board Installation Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024 during the COMTO National Meeting & Training Conference in Houston, TX.
